Ajman Chamber and DED - Ajman successfully holds UAE-Japan Investment Forum

Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with Department of Economic Development – Ajman, successfully organized the UAE-Japan Investment Forum, an event aimed at opening newer horizons of cooperation between the UAE and Japan. The event, which was held in collaboration with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), was also focused on discovering and learning more about potential economic opportunities and increasing the volume of trade and partnerships between the two countries.

The forum was attended by Masami Ando, Director General, Japanese Foreign Trade Commission; Mohammad Ali Al Janahi, Executive Director, Investment and Business Development Sector; Nasser Al Zafari, Executive Director of Planning and Support, Ajman Chamber, along with representatives coming from various government entities of Ajman concerned with economic affairs and several businessmen and investors.

His Excellency Ali Issa Al Nuaimi, Director General, DED-Ajman, said, "The UAE-Japan Investment Forum (JETRO 2018) reflects the strong relations between the UAE and the Japanese business community and also serves as a strategic platform to explore the prospects of further enhancing the bilateral cooperation of the two countries across the economic and industrial sectors."

He added, "This forum, which is the result of the successful collaboration of the department with the Ajman Chamber, looks towards attracting more foreign direct investments from Japan--keeping in mind the significant role of the private sector in driving economic development to the emirate."

"We remain committed in continuing the work aimed at encouraging economic policies, driving in investment and creating commercial facilities, that can help improve the quality of services provided to regional and international investors, which in turn, can result in enhancing the business and investment climate of the emirate. We are confident that the forum will result in significant results and bring us one step closer in our move to build a prosperous and sustainable economy characterized by diversity and competitiveness in line with the vision of Ajman 2021," said Al Nuaimi.

During the event, Mohammed Al Janahi welcomed the attendees and stressed on the importance of the forum, which will establish direct and effective channel of communication between the UAE and Japanese businessmen and officials—further reinforcing the already strong relations between the two countries.

He said, "There is no doubt that the forum today is of particular importance in providing an umbrella to increase cooperation and partnership among all the attendees; exchanging experiences and benefits from potential possibilities. The event is also an opportunity to review the most important elements and investment opportunities that can be availed in the future--opening new horizons to the private sector in various fields. Recent statistics show that the volume of trade exchange between the UAE and Japan has reached AED 51 billion—reflecting the strong economic relationship between the two countries."

Al Janahi added that the forum underscores the keenness of the Emirate of Ajman in general and Ajman Chamber in particular to enhance its international cooperation in line with the aspirations of traders and businessmen, which reflects the interest and guidance of the wise leadership, will help in achieving the vision of Ajman 2021, and ensures the development and sustainability of all sectors, especially the economic sector.

He added, "We are confident that the forum will be followed by the holding of several joint events to increase existing cooperation. We expect that these activities will result in recommendations built on the interests of both parties, designed to meet the aspirations of investors and businessmen and strengthen partnerships between economic institutions."

The forum presented an overview about Ajman’s economy, facilities, flexibility and speed offered to the business community. The Ajman Chamber, Department of Economic Development -Ajman, Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) and Ajman Free Zone also presented and talked about their most important services and benefits offered to investors and the cooperation of all concerned parties in the economic affairs under the guidance of the wise leadership to provide an attractive economic system that promotes the growth and sustainability of various economic sectors. The participants also reviewed important investment opportunities available in the Emirate of Ajman.

The JETRO delegation presented advantages and opportunities that could be used to increase cooperation between Japan and Ajman. Masami Ando affirmed the importance of the meeting as an opportunity to increase future cooperation and participate in various events and exhibitions organized by the parties.

During the forum, the discussion was opened between the attendees and reviewed the most important proposals to increase cooperation between the two parties in the economic and tourism sectors.

At the end of the forum, Mohammed Al Janahi presented a memorial shield from the Ajman Chamber to the JETRO Director General and stressed on the importance of increasing cooperation in economic and future investments between Ajman and Japan to serve the interests of both parties.
