MoU between "Ajman DED " and Dhahi Khalfan Intellectual Property Center

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the "Department of Economic Development in Ajman" (Ajman DED) and the Dhahi Khalfan Intellectual Property Center, affiliated to the Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA), with a view to exchanging experiences and upgrading the technical and administrative performance of the Ajman DED’s staff and employees in terms of the intellectual property, and exchanging studies and research aiming to improve the institutional work and build a cooperative partnership between the two parties to achieve the common strategic goals. The MoU was signed by His Excellency Abdullah Ahmed Al Hamrani, the Director-General of the Ajman DED, and Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Chairman of the Center's Board of Directors.

Al Hamrani explained that the MoU aims to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the two parties, achieve a fruitful strategic partnership, benefit from mutual accumulated experiences, exchange studies and research that aim at improving institutional work, developing customer services, and coordinating areas of joint work, in order to improve the performance of operations, simplify procedures, and coordinate between the two parties within the framework of joint functional and practical cooperation to develop the technical and administrative capabilities of the two parties staff and employees.

On this occasion, Al Hamrani said: “The partnership between entities, whether governmental or private, has become one of the most important tools for development and improvement, as the concerted efforts between different institutions and their implications for the business community and various services in the UAE’s economies, in general, and the Emirate of Ajman, in particular, have become one of the basic rules upon which entities rely on to achieve their visions and goals. It has become clear that community partnerships are serving the journey of sustainable development for the society. The Ajman DED is pleased to sign a MoU with this distinguished academic center, the Dhahi Khalfan Intellectual Property Center.”

Al Obaidly stated: "The MoU is an addition to the series of MoUs that the Center has entered into with many entities and is a fruit of the Center's keenness to strengthen the partnership between academic and community institutions and government departments by building a cooperative institutional partnership to exchange experiences and information, with a view to improve the level of performance on all levels between both sides and pushing forward the future development in the field of protecting intellectual property rights."

Al Obaidly explained that the Dhahi Khalfan Intellectual Property Center is a training center that works under the umbrella of the EIPA, a public-benefit association that was publicized by the Ministry of Community Development as per the Ministerial Decree No. (519) of 2010 on 11/25/2010 in the Emirate of Dubai, UAE. The Center was established with the aim of developing, innovating, creating, and providing training and education courses in the field of intellectual property, databases development, preparation of research and statistical studies in the field of intellectual property rights, and serving the EIPA's role in raising the principles of individual and community awareness of the intellectual property fields, contributing to achieving the objectives of public policy in the UAE, and bringing it to the top of world countries in the in the field of protecting intellectual property rights by 2021.
