The department of Economic Development Ajman Preventing imposing additional fees on paying by credit cards

The Department of Economic Development in Ajman annonced the acivation of the resolution passed by the Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection abiding all commercial sectors not to deduct any additional fees from the consumer when collecting payments through bank credit cards .
Mr. / Sultan Saud al-Shammari, Director of the Directorate of Control and Consumer Protection in the Department of Economic Development said :that the resolution is the outcome of the meetings of the Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection of the Ministry of Economy.
Al-Shammari emphasized that in order to support the implementation of this resolution the Department of Economic Development has taken immediate action to disseminate this resolution on more than 10,000 economic facilities in the emirate of Ajman, to emphasize its commitment not to impose any additional fees on consumers who are interested in the use of bank credit cards in the payment process, as the credit card payment option is one of the options used by most consumers due to its flexibility , ease and speed of reimbursements to the stores and shops.
Al-Shammari said that the duties of the official authorities is to encourage such options that ensure the smooth flow of the shopping process and money collection as it equally benefits both the consumer and shopkeepers , therefore the private commercial sectors together with the official authorities must support the automated payment options and to abandon any practices that may prevent consumers from adopting the same by means such as , for example, the imposition of additional charges in the case of credit card payments.
Al-Shammari added that the role of the Department of Economic Development in Ajman will not be confined to this point, but the Directorate of Control and Consumer Protection will organize inspection campaigns to make sure that all shops and commercial sectors are adhering to implement this resolution and to monitor any violations of this decision and to mointor any violations by impsing fines starting from AED 2000.
