Department of Economic Development – Ajman successfully organizes innovative workshop for local entrepreneurs

The Department of Economic Development – Ajman (DED-Ajman) successfully organized a workshop entitled ‘Designing the Innovative Work Model.’ The workshop, which was presented by Dr. Abdullah Al-Awadhi, was held in cooperation with the National Program to boost Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), the Dubai Entrepreneurship Academy, the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Ajman X Center.

The workshop was attended by a number of Emirati entrepreneurs and looked towards addressing the latest concepts in the establishment and management of projects and the innovative mechanisms included in the design of business models. During his presentation, Dr. Al Awadi explained that the success of the project starts with choosing the right idea and ensuring that its relevance will help in meeting the needs of the market. He pointed out that the project should include added value to customers and the entrepreneur should study all financial aspects of the project—including the adoption of accounting principles. He also reviewed the innovative mechanisms in the design process and business aspect of operations. The workshop witnessed positive interaction between the moderator and the attendees, which sought to provide them with practical applications that they can utilize in their businesses.

Aisha Ahmed Kajour, Director of Small and Medium Enterprises Development, DED-Ajman, said: "We remain steadfast in our continuing efforts to promote a culture of entrepreneurship for the UAE citizens and residents. The Department has expressed keenness in further developing ways on how these SMEs can contribute to the local economy, foster innovation and adopt creativity practices that support national economic trends and promote entrepreneurship by offering a range of services and privileges to young entrepreneurs and qualifying them through a series of training courses and workshops."

The workshop falls in line with the objectives of the Department’s ‘SME Development Program,’ which was recently launched to provide advisory, training and marketing support to small and medium-sized entrepreneurs—enhancing their experience and support in the business sector and opening new horizons for them to ensure the success of their projects in various sectors in the country.
