DED-Ajman Launches “Riyada” Household Licensing Program with the Exemption of Local Fees for 3 Years
Ahmed Bin Humaid: “Riyada” Program Enhances Citizens’ Contribution to Economic Activity


Sheikh Ahmed Bin Humaid Al-Nuaimi, His Highness the Ruler of Ajman’s Representative for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and the Chairman of the Department of Economic Development (DED), said that the Emirate of Ajman is keen for the instilment and sustainability of an economic environment that is attractive for investment and supportive for the businessmen sector according to Ajman Vision 2021. Supporting economic growth and the encouragement of investment is a strategic objective of Ajman Department of Economic Development (DED-Ajman), as launching “Riyada” program takes place as an important step in supporting the enterprise incorporation movement and that contributes to enhancing the citizens’ contribution to economic activity. Furthermore, the Emiri Resolution No. 7 of 2019, passed by His Highness the Crown Prince of Ajman, the Chairman of the Executive Council, for the exemption of household economic activities from local fees, is a part of the initiatives of the Emirate’s government for the motivation of economic activity in the various forms thereof, and is a significant source of support for the citizens who wish to undertake their activity from home, as “Riyada” program will ensure the provision of all the necessary facilities, advantages, and services to them.

120 Available Household Economic Activity
This was mentioned in the course of His Highness’s comment on launching “Riyada” household licensing program by DED-Ajman concurrently with the beginning of the year of preparing for the 50th anniversary of the UAE. This program involves giving household licenses to the male and female citizens who are living in the Emirate of Ajman, along with exempting them from all local fees in the Emirate of Ajman for a duration of three years from the license issuance date, for Nos. 120 economic activities. This aims to motivate citizens to undertake commercial and professional business and to become business entrepreneurs. The department provides customers with the opportunity to see the list of activities of “Riyada” program on the department’s website.

An Exemption of All Local Fees for 3 Years
In his role, His Excellency Ali Eissa Al-Nuaimi, the Department’s Director General, said: “The resolution of His Highness the Department’s Chairman for “Riyada” program was made as an important motive for the enhancement of economic activity and business movement within the Emirate of Ajman, by encouraging male and female citizens to start-up commercial activity from home along with exempting them from all local fees for a duration of 3 years, and the provision of a package of various consultative, training, and marketing services. “Riyada” is the first program of type that serves both men and women for undertaking commercial activity from home, aiming to increase the citizens’ contribution to economic activity”

All holders of household “Riyada” licenses will get the department’s support in the form of automatic membership in “Tazeez” program, which, in role, supports business entrepreneurs with economic consultations and feasibility studies, and the organization of training workshops throughout the year, along with the various promotional and marketing initiatives that are held in support of enterprise owners.

DED-Ajman gives those who wish to undertake economic activity from home and to avail of the exemptions and advantages of “Riyada” program the ability to have the license issued through the digital service available on the department’s website and the department’s smart application, in addition to the ability to have the license issued through the “Tas-heel” centers that are approved by the department, being namely, Al-Hajes Center, “Tawasul” Center, the Creativity Center, the Information Center, and EQC Center, in addition to the department’s two branches at Masfoot and Manama. Household licenses are issued in the legal form specified by the resolution of the department’s chairman, being namely, a “Sole Proprietorship”. The issuance of licenses requires that the premises shall be within the Emirate of Ajman, whereby the license owner is the owner or lessee of the house or is living with one of his relatives of the first degree. Furthermore, the premises shall meet the conditions of public health and safety, and the stipulations of civilized appearance. The licenses issued through “Riyada” program do not permit the procurement of work permits, in order to encourage license owners to undertake activity directly.
