The commencement of operating for 24 hours a day for food outlets and pharmacies in Ajman

The Department of Economic Development in Ajman has begun to follow up the implementation of the decision of working around the clock effective from today until further later notice for the foodstuffs sale outlets including cooperative societies, groceries, and supermarkets, and for pharmacies as well, in order to meet the needs of consumers under the current circumstances, and to prevent overcrowding and reduce gathering, in addition to conducting field visits and inspection campaigns to ensure that the shopping malls, trade centers and markets operating in the UAE adhere to the decision of the temporarily closure, except for foodstuff outlets and pharmacies located therein, for an extendable term of two weeks. In order to avoid assembling and infection transmission, these decisions come in line with the precautionary and preventive measures taken by the government to reduce the spread of the Corona virus "Covid 19", and to maintain the health and safety of society.

The Department of Economic Development confirms its keenness and concern to monitor the economic situation in the Emirate and pursues holding the interests of enterprises harmless without prejudice to the interests of consumers. The department further calls upon the adherence to the recently-issued decisions, and in the event that price manipulation and exploitation of consumers is proven, penalty shall be imposed on the relevant entity, as the law permits to double the value of the fine up to 100 thousand dirhams within one year, and the department is also entitled to close the facility for a period of up to six months, and to cancel the license if necessary. The department calls on everyone to cooperate and abide by its decisions.
