Sustainability

The team communicated with several entities to carry out the necessary benchmarking comparisons, and meetings were held with the following federal and local entities.

• Municipality and Planning Department - Ajman
• Department of Economic Development - Abu Dhabi
• Ministry of Climate Change and Environment

A specialized consulting firm has been contracted to begin the development of a comprehensive system for measuring carbon emissions in accordance with the GHG Protocol.

• First program: Workshops
• Program 2: Electronic Awareness Messages
• Program Three: Evening Field Visits

The first edition of the “Sustainability Guide” was prepared and approved in accordance with the procedures in force in the department.

• Participated in the study of the effects of "banning single-use plastic bags in the Emirate of Ajman," where the draft administrative decision prepared by the Municipality and Planning Department in the emirate was reviewed, and approval of the provisions in the decision was recommended.
• Conducted a brainstorming workshop with the participation of department employees, where the largest number of suggestions was collected and utilized in preparing the team's plan for the years 2024-2026.
• Held the first specialized training course in sustainability in collaboration with the European Business Center for Training and Development in December 2023, attended by 15 participants. The course covered the following topics:
  • The concept of sustainability and how to integrate it into various aspects of daily life and institutions.
  • Analyzing the impact of economic, social, and environmental decisions on the sustainability of individual and institutional activities.
  • Understanding the key principles that form the basis of sustainability and how to apply them across different fields.
  • Understanding and evaluating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the role of participants in achieving them.
  • Exploring the importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance reports.
  • Analyzing the risks of climate change and how to mitigate its impact on various sectors.
  • Understanding the scope of carbon emissions and how to measure and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
