The Department of Economic Development in Ajman (Ajman DED) issued 1,639 new licenses during Q1 2024, recording a growth rate of 11% compared to the same period of the previous year, and the number of commercial licenses increased by about 23% during the same period, in praise of the Ajman DED’s adoption of digital transformation in its services and supporting policies and initiatives, for the business environment, in addition to its interest in enhancing the role of partnerships to build a stronger and more flexible economy.
H.E. Abdullah Ahmed Al Hamrani, Director-General of the Ajman DED, said: “The positive results of business activity in the Q1 2024 were a reflection of the tireless efforts and strategies adopted by the Ajman DED to provide opportunities for investors to conduct their business with ease and flexibility, which contributes to increasing levels of confidence in the economy of the Emirate of Ajman.” This enhances its competitiveness, and the Ajman DED continues its efforts to support the economic environment and provide the optimal investment climate".
The report indicated the distribution of economic licenses in Ajman, where the percentage of professional licenses reached 51%, followed by commercial licenses at 44%, and industrial licenses at 4%. Some activities are also witnessing a significant demand from investors in the issuance, such as selling ready-made clothes, retail selling perfumes, and selling meals, building maintenance, and restaurants. The report also presents the top five areas issuing licenses, with Industrial Area 1 coming in first, followed by Ajman Industrial Area 2, then Al Nuaimiya 1, Al Rawda 1, and Al Nuaimiya 2.
