Events of the "Gulf Consumer Protection Week". Annual event for exchanging experiences and achieving more gains in this vital field

The Department of Economic Development in Ajman (Ajman DED) launched the events of the 17th edition of the "Gulf Consumer Protection Week", themed “Shop online consciously and safely” during the period from 14 to 17 March at City Life Mall, and awareness campaigns in the China Mall. These events launched by the Ajman DED in cooperation and coordination with the Ajman Free Zone.

The events of the 17th edition of the "Gulf Consumer Protection Week", which will conclude on March 17, has witnessed a great turnout and interest from visitors of different age groups, especially university students, as the Ajman DED has been keen on selecting distinguished interactive and awareness events. The week-long events include an exhibition of original and counterfeit goods, which aims to familiarize the public with ways to distinguish between them, and organizing awareness lectures for the public with a view to spreading the culture of proper shopping and consumption.

The Week’s events include competitions for the public (questions and answers) about the services provided by the Ajman DED in the fields of economy, trade affairs, and consumer protection affairs. They aim to educate the public about the functions and tasks of the Department, in addition to launching a platform for resolving consumer complaints, distributing cash gifts, and providing awareness lectures to the public, dealing with many topics related to consumer protection.

A large number of visitors to the exhibition of the events of the "Gulf Consumer Protection Week" praised the accompanying events and that they benefited greatly from the exhibition (original and counterfeit goods) in knowing the ways of distinguishing between them.

Mr. Saud Sultan Al Shammari, Director of Control and Consumer Protection Section, stressed that enabling proper commercial practices and ensuring consumer protection are among the priorities directed by the UAE wise leadership, and one of the strategic objectives of the Ajman DED. In this regard, the Control and Consumer Protection Section of the Ajman DED is working tirelessly to implement the general policy to protect the consumers, in cooperation with partners from government agencies and the private sector, with the aim of addressing illegal commercial practices that harm the consumer, spreading consumer awareness, and informing consumers of their rights and ways to claim them, while monitoring the prices, limiting unjustified price rises, receiving consumer complaints, and taking the necessary actions to solve them.
