The Department of Economic Development in Ajman (Ajman DED) provided the training program “Future Foresight and Design Diploma” for employees of the Umm Al Quwain Municipality, in response to the invitation of the Municipality, which wanted to benefit from the best practices applied at the UAE level in the field of foreseeing the future, and out of the Ajman DED’s belief in the importance of transferring acquired knowledge and experiences to any governmental entity in Ajman or outside it alike, out of its keenness to participate and contribute effectively to achieving the visions that the UAE aspires to and in fulfillment of its responsibility to society.
This Diploma, which lasted for 40 training hours, aims to empower employees with the skills of designing and foreseeing the future, creating a generation of national leaders and cadres capable of anticipating changes and preparing for them, and raising the readiness of government entities to face all the challenges the world is witnessing. It includes 8 basic axes, including more than 18 practical exercises.
All 8 participants, who represent various functional levels in Umm Al Quwain Municipality, including the leadership and specialized levels, graduated after implementing the graduation project to ensure the application of what they learned during this Diploma. They were awarded an accredited certificate from Ajman University, and their satisfaction rate with the training program reached 97%.
H.E Abdullah Ahmed Al Hamrani, Director General of Ajman DED, expressed his happiness with government entities from outside Ajman seeking competent and qualified talents and cadres in Ajman DED, to implement training programs. He said: “The Ajman DED implementation of this Diploma confirms that it possesses sufficient knowledge, know-how, and practical experience in this field. And, this came in response to the call of our partners and based on our sense of social responsibility and our commitment to society.”
Al Hamrani added: “We are proud of the talents of our employees, who have become well-known in this field. The lecturer holds a Master’s Degree in business administration, specializing in AI and data analysis, from Ascencia Business School in France in 2021, and is currently studying for a doctorate in the value of anticipating the future and supporting its connection to excellence in government work from the University of UCAM. He is also a member of the Emirates Strategic Planning and Foresight Future Association, and a practicing expert in future foresight and scenario planning tools from the Global Institute for Foresight Future for the year 2019.”
It is worth noting that this Diploma won first place in the last session of the Emirate of Ajman’s summer program, “Our Happy Summer 2023,” in the category of best development programs, in return for the program strengthening the readiness of the UAE’s members for the future and its changes, and for developing their future thinking skills, and to provide them with a comprehensive framework for building and preparing future scenarios.
